Hall of Saints day is nearly here! We wanted to touch base and make sure everyone knew what to expect this week... It will be a busyone for our kiddos!
Monday: Project boards are due at school.(We will practice our speeches and share ourboards with the class before Wednesday)
Tuesday: Halloween! 3rd Graders can dress in costumes for school.
Students are allowed to wear costumes to school. Please make sure to follow the rules. Your child's homeroom teacher will follow up with any additional guidelines as well as information about the Halloween party.
Halloween Costume Rules
No masks or face paint
No weapons
Costumes must be appropriate for school, taking into account PE classes, recess, and restroom breaks.
4th Grade: Must wear tennis shoes because they have PE.
Middle school and Fifth grade DO NOT dressup. It is NOT an out of uniform day. Tuesdayis a PE day, so students should comedressed in their PE uniforms.
Our room moms have put together aHalloween party for us. (Thank y'all SO much!) If you would like to send in candy/treats/favors for your child to share with the class, you absolutely can!
Wednesday: (This is a change!) We have been given permission for the 3rd graders to wear their saint costumes to mass, so the costumes do not need to come in early. You may send your child to school dressed as their Saint. We will begin our day with mass for All Saints Day, and we will then move to the Youth Gym for our Hall of Saints. We would love to see you there! Parents may come any time throughout the day.
Hall of Saints ~ November 1st:
9:15 - 10:50
11:05 - 12:15
1:20 - 2:00
*** Please note these time blocks. We havebuilt in breaks and lunch for our students. ***
Attached you will find the project requirements that were sent home, a copy of the rubric we will use to grade, and a speech template that we worked on in class. This speech template is just an option for those that were having a hard time getting started. I know some students told us that they created a speech at home, and that is wonderful. Please send the speech to school with the board on Monday so that we can practice it, get it transferred to a note card, and be prepared for Wednesday.
FAQ's:
Can my child's board have a map with printed words? Yes, both 3rd grade teachers are good with this
Should we glue the speech to the board? No, please do not glue the speech to the board. The students will hold the speech during the presentation
Can grandparents come to Hall of Saints?Absolutely! We love SAS Grandparents!
Is Monday Hall of Saints? No, Projects are due on Monday, and will be presented onWednesday
Can my child write on paper and then glue it onto the board? Absolutely yes. An easyupgrade is to put colored paper behind it to frame it. It will look amazing and it is hard towrite on a cardboard poster.
What do we include if my child's Saint has more that one thing they are the Patron Saint of? Pick 1 or 2 or the most kid appropriate and focus on that one
